The Bloggsy Bandwagon Rolls On

The BBC have bought the rights to Diary of an On Call Girl for Radio Four's Woman's Hour. They'll be broadcasting a part-dramatised reading in five parts of 15 minutes each on the programme one week this summer. That ought to help sales in what's looking, already, like a rather flat year.
Meanwhile, as we said in blogs passim, the TV rights to this book were sold some time ago and there is interesting and exciting progress on that front, too; some very well-known comedy people are being lined up to work on it, though we can't say any more than that at this stage. However, we can say that, contrary to earlier posts, it will probably be 2011 before anything appears on screen (and there are still many slips twixt lip and cup, of course).
I believe Bloggsy stole her nom de plume from e e cummings, who many years ago correctly said that a day without laughter was wasted. When we're feeling low, we often dip into Diary and it never fails to cheer us up.
Of course, as TS Eliot pointed out, 'Humour is also a way of saying something serious.' This she also does, though the madness of British policing, and public life generally, continues apace. I recommend Inspector Gadget's recent blog posts about the policing pledge, for instance. If we must have these grandstanding pledges, one which says 'We will catch and deal with as many criminals as possible' would suit most folks; but most folks don't count.
On the subject of Gadget, we have received two offers from the rights to Perverting The Course Of Justice (and one for the rights to Wasting Police Time). More details as and when.

Well done with that, you must be really excited! Great book, my wife read it first and then me and we've since lent it to a number of other people, all of whom loved it.
