I met up with Inspector Gadget and PC Bloggs in London a few days ago. It's become a sort of annual tradition - we always meet in the same pub in Camden Town - and began when I introduced Bloggs and Gadget to PC Copperfield a few months before we arranged to out him (with his agreement) on BBC1's Panorama.
It always has a slight feel of sedition and conspiracy about it, but actually it's just an opportunity for a drink (Gadget drinks Guinness and Bloggs largely sticks to lemonade) and a laugh about the madness of modern bureaucracy.
We argued about whether Britain was becoming a 'police state' (1 yes, 1 no, 1 in between) and then had a rather greasy Chinese meal.
Talking of Bloggs, she emailed me yesterday to dispute that Piers Morgan is a moronic buffoon; she says most people think instead that he is 'quite clever but evil personified'. It's arguable, I suppose.

Actually I didn't say that I personally didn't think he was a moronic buffoon. But that I thought that wasn't what most people thought. Although actually your reply changed my mind.
Ah, sorry Bloggsy.
Can he swear like Boris?
